Hasty Evil [7 maps] - RC1 (2025)

I completed Hasty Evil with Woof, challenging DOOM2 levels, 81/100. The Archvile will be a frequentrecurrence throughout the WAD slowing down the progress of the player, because the Archvile always ambushes the player, and will appear in greater numbers as the player progresses through the WAD.

MAP01: VILE CENTRAL - 80/100
GAMEPLAY: 80/100
GRAPHICS: 80/100
PRESENTATION: 80/100
MAP01 is best described as being the introduction level, because of the presence of the Archvile in the center of the level, which attacks the player when possible.
The level is the shortest level in the WAD with only 24 enemies, but the real challenge is avoiding the Archvile attacks.
The player progresses in the level by activating switches placed throughout the level to access the next area.
The level is admittedly light on details, the level theme is a tech base with ruins, and add more details to the level to improve the immersion.

NOTE: Add more enemies to the level to increase the suspense of the level as well as the difficulty.

MAP02: CORRUPTED INDUSTRY - 85/100
GAMEPLAY: 90/100
GRAPHICS: 85/100
PRESENTATION: 80/100
MAP02 features an excellent DOOM2 theme any DOOM2 enthusiast will appreciate, but admittedly the level is relatively empty featuring large, and open locations.
The level features a maze like design which will cause the player to circle around the levelto progress through the level with numerous locations to explore.
Excellent enemy variety with well designed enemy ambushes present throughout the level which elevates the gameplay value as well as the level difficulty.
The player is required to activate switches to progress through the level, and fighting with the Radiation Shielding Suit increases the suspense of the level.

NOTE: MAP02 is personally the best level, and will be the last Tech Base themed level in the WAD.

MAP03: IMMORAL ECOSYSTEM - 85/100
GAMEPLAY: 80/100
GRAPHICS: 85/100
PRESENTATION: 90/100
MAP03 is achallenging level taking place in a large scale environment, and the level will be very open ended to explore, but is difficult to find the best path forward.
The level takes place in both indoor, and outdoor locations consisting of highly detailed environments, and every area in the level features a different theme.
The enemy variety is the best part of the level, because the player will need to adapt to the conditions of the battlefield to complete the level successfully.
The large number of enemies in the level will increase the difficulty of the level, because staying in 1 location will cause you to burn through all of your ammo.

NOTE: The progression of the level would improve if the level was locked behind Keyed Doors,the player needs to complete the previous area to access the next area.

MAP04: BRICKABLE TYPE - 85/100
GAMEPLAY: 80/100
GRAPHICS: 85/100
PRESENTATION: 90/100
MAP04 is the next challenging level in the WAD where Archviles will appear in the level at the worst time, but the main weakness of the level is the availability of resources.
There is not enough ammo in the level, but there are an excess number of Health Kits in the level, this means conserve ammo, and melee attack enemies when possible.
The best part of the level is exploring the level, because the level is large in size with numerous areas to explore, and there are numerous switches to activate in the level.
The levelfeatures an excellent balance of large, open locations, and narrowlocations to explore with sandbox gameplay where the player decides which path to explore.

NOTE: There is a missing texture at the starting point of the area with the metal fences in the lava, southwest from the center of the level.

MAP05: DUELING CAVE - 75/100
GAMEPLAY: 50/100
GRAPHICS: 85/100
PRESENTATION: 90/100
MAP05 features an excellent level layout with well detailed environments taking place in a ruins location, but the gameplay isstale, because of the low enemy count.
This level is the worst level in the WAD, because the gameplay involvesthe same strategy, which involves shooting rockets at the enemies before being hit by fire blasts.
The level will provide the player withRockets, and the Rocket Launcher will be the only weapon necessary to complete the level, which iswhy the gameplay is stale.
While the environments are well detailed, and progressing in the level increases the suspense of the level, the level design is linear with minimal side locations to explore.

NOTE: Placing Radiation Shielding Suits in the level will decrease the level difficulty.

MAP06: CIRCLED - 65/100
GAMEPLAY: 75/100
GRAPHICS: 60/100
PRESENTATION: 60/100
MAP06 is best described as being a basic DOOM2 level featuringgameplay where the level opens up as the player progresses in the level, and light platforming sections.
The level is light on details this time around taking place in a circular shaped level with minimal exploration involved, because of the small level size.
Unfortunately this level is the worst level in the WAD, because of the linear level design, and uninteresting environment designs featuring nothing noticeable.
The best part of the level is the gameplay, because the Archviles will appear throughout the level, and will resurrect the enemies who will chase the player.

NOTE: The Secret Area in the level is inaccessible without jumping.

MAP07: SIMPLE EVIL - 90/100
GAMEPLAY: 90/100
GRAPHICS: 90/100
PRESENTATION: 90/100
MAP07 is the best level in the WAD with the most gameplay variety featuring the limbo theme, and the level will feature numerous arenas to complete.
The level contains the most balanced gameplay where the player is provided enough resources to complete the level, with numerous locations to explore.
The Red Key Area was the most difficult arena to complete in the WAD, because of the number of enemies in the arena with minimal space to move around.
The Blue Key Area will be the dramatic ending to the level with a long range Boss Fight, and light platformingto gain access to the Blue Key to exit the level.

NOTE: The Demons near the Red Key get stuck behind the metal bars.
